This special visa allows UAE residents to enjoy Oman’s scenic landscapes and rich culture, but there are specific criteria you must meet before applying.
1. Valid UAE Residence Visa
Your UAE residence visa is an important factor in determining your eligibility. To apply for an Oman visa, your UAE visa must:

This applies regardless of the type of UAE residence visa you hold, including golden, green, employment, or digital nomad visas.
2. Passport Validity
Your passport is another essential document. It must meet the following conditions:

3. Approved Profession

4. Apply from Outside Oman
You must apply for the Oman visa while you are still in the UAE. It’s important to note that:

5. Required Documentation
To ensure a successful application, having the right documents is essential. You will need to provide:
A scanned copy of your passport’s bio-data page (the page with your personal details).
A recent passport-sized photo with a plain white background.
A scanned copy of your valid UAE residence visa.
Additionally, you might need to provide a copy of your Emirates ID to further verify your identity and residency status.
How to Apply Oman Visa from Dubai or UAE
Now I am providing you a step by step guide on Oman visa application.
To start the visa process for Oman, go to the official website of Royal Oman Police by clicking on the link.
Scroll down and go to the “Electronic Visa Services” and click on “Apply Online” button.
Now choose “On-Arrival Tourist visa, Express visa and Entry visa for foreign residents in GCC states” and tap on the “Click Here” button.
Now choose “Apply for Tourist Visa”.
If you’re new to the website, you’ll need to register as a user. Here’s how:
Click on “Register” at the top of the page.
Fill in your details, including your email, name, phone number, and nationality.
Create a password, confirm it, and complete the CAPTCHA to verify you’re human.
Verify your email by clicking the link sent to your inbox.
If you already have an account, simply log in using your email and password.
Once logged in, follow these steps to apply:
Go to “Apply for Visa” on the main page.
You will be asked if you’re a GCC resident. Select Yes and choose UAE from the list of GCC countries.
You’ll now see a list of visa options. For UAE residents, the most suitable option is the GCC Resident Visa (Visa Code: 29A).
Visa Fee: Approx. 50 AED
Duration: Up to 28 days (single entry)
Make sure to check the eligibility for this visa type. While most professions are accepted, it’s a good idea to verify if your occupation is listed. You can find the approved professions after this complete procedure.
You’ll now need to fill out your application form:
Personal Details: Enter your full name, nationality, gender, and contact details.
Document Information: Upload the required documents like your passport, UAE visa, passport-size photo, and Emirates ID.
Occupation Details: Provide your current job title. This is important because the Oman visa process sometimes requires specific professions.
Once you’ve filled in all the required fields and uploaded the documents, you will be presented with a summary page. Double-check all your information, as mistakes could cause your application to be rejected or delayed.
Click Submit to finalize the process. You will then receive a confirmation that your application is under review. You can monitor the status by logging into your account on the eVisa portal.
Once your application is approved, you will receive a notification to make the visa payment. After payment, the visa will usually be processed within 1-2 business days. In most cases, you will get the visa within 24 hours.
After submission, you can log back into the portal to check the status. The visa status will either show as:

My Tour To Oman As UAE Resident
Last year, I had the pleasure of traveling from Abu Dhabi to Oman. I crossed the border at Al Ain. At the UAE check post, I showed my Oman visa, UAE ID, and car registration (Mulkiya). There’s a fee of 26.25 dirhams for exiting the UAE, which you’ll need to pay. After that, I headed toward the buffer zone.
Insurance and Entry into Oman
Before crossing into Oman, I made sure to get car insurance, which starts at around 110 dirhams for a week. Once I was all set, I moved to the Oman check post. There, I presented my passport, Emirates ID, Oman eVisa, and car documents. The final check required me to step out of the car while the Oman authorities inspected it.
Exploring Ibri
After passing through the check post, I headed towards a city called Ibri, known for its beautiful floor marble. I spent the night at a friend’s place, but there are plenty of hotels available if you prefer. For dinner, we enjoyed a delicious barbecue at a restaurant that reminded me of a Malabari eatery in the UAE.
The next morning, I grabbed breakfast at a Pakistani restaurant before setting off for Muscat.
On the Road to Muscat
On the way to Muscat, we stopped at a 4,000-year-old fort in the charming town of Izki. It was fascinating to explore such historical sites! We then made a quick stop at a petrol station for prayers and a cup of tea.
Arriving in Muscat
Upon reaching Muscat, we went out for dinner, and just as we finished, it started to rain heavily! I booked a hotel and met up with a friend amidst the downpour. Later, we visited the stunning Sultan Qaboos Mosque for Asr prayer.
Staying Connected
Afterward, I headed to the market to buy a SIM card. I got a Friendi SIM for just 3 riyals, which included 1 GB of data, an additional GB, and 10 minutes of talk time—quite a good deal!
Day Two Adventures
On the second day, I explored the old town of Mutrah, including the bustling bazaar, the fort, and the picturesque corniche. It was a fantastic way to soak in the local culture.
